There's a lot going on this weekend, including free music and sunny days, and lucky for you, we've got this handy weekend primer.
First, in crime and mayhem, this week saw both a hit-and-run and a robbery in the neighborhood.
SF Appeal reported that early Wednesday morning, a bicyclist was struck by a car at the intersection of Oak and Stanyan. The car fled east up Oak and is described as a gold-colored sedan. The victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
Shortly before 2am on the morning of September 4th, the SFPD reports responding to a call about a robbery at Haight and Masonic. A 22-year-old white male was robbed of his wallet and cash by a man of unspecified description after being punched in the face. The suspect was not apprehended, and fled north away from the scene.
As an aside, remember to stay safe out there: last Sunday a man on foot was critically injured at Divisadero and Golden Gate after the driver of a grey Honda sedan pulled a gun and shot him following a verbal altercation.
Now, moving on to arts and culture.
Tomorrow marks the first annual Haight Street Music & Merchants Street Festival, which will have Haight shut down between Masonic and Stanyan from noon to 6pm. The payoff? Free DJ sets from Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli, plus a bunch of other fun stuff.
Ready to venture further into the park? Great. San Francisco Opera will be hosting its free Opera In The Park Sunday at 1:30pm in Sharon Meadow. The program is scheduled to include tidbits from Mozart, Bellini, Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, and others.
Have a great weekend, and don't forget to reapply that sunscreen.
