But first, as an early public service announcement: are you missing a parrot by any chance? Local neighbor and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Adam Johnson reported on Cole Valley's Facebook page that he has found a parrot. Contact him for details.
Today at 6pm, the fine folks of Amoeba Records will be hosting another free live in-store show with Avi Buffalo, who's touring for his album At Best Cuckold (released on Sub Pop), and who'll be opening for a show later this evening at Great American Music Hall.
Apart from that, most of this weekend's offerings are outdoorsy, the better to enjoy that partly-sunny September weekend you've been dreaming of.
In addition to the previously mentioned Tour De Fat in Golden Gate Park tomorrow, there is a free gardening class at 780 Frederick, SF Rec & Parks' community garden, running from 10 to 11:30 am. RSVP to rpd {dot} urbanag [at] sfgov {dot} org if you're interested.
Back in the park, Rec and Parks is hosting a monthly Oak Woodlands volunteer project to clean up the park's native oak woods. The group kicks of on Saturday at 10am; meet at the steps to the Conservatory of Flowers.
If you're into a different kind of green, tomorrow will also see the arrival of the inaugural 420 Games, which the Bay Guardian describes as "a series of athletic competitions in which weed enthusiasts will run, walk, and bike their way to larger societal acceptance." Sunday, need we remind you, is free admission day at the California Academy of Sciences. Make the most of it!
