We've got a missing bird, a market for sale, an Uber attack and more in this week's leftovers.

First, a few weekend events:
Tonight it's a first Friday art opening at DSF (520 Haight), showcasing abstract works by Sacramento-based artist John Horton. The show will include original paintings, prints, and 3D printed sculptures by Horton. Swing by from 7pm to 11pm to check it out.
Tomorrow morning, head up to Alamo Square for the final park volunteer day of the year. From 9am to noon, join your neighbors to help green and clean the park. Meet at the tennis court; refreshments will be provided.
Tomorrow night, it's the monthly music event known as Push The Feeling at Underground SF (424 Haight). This edition features a DJ set from Awesome Tapes From Africa, a.k.a. Brian Shimkovitz, who plays cassette tapes collected from various African musicians not often heard 'round these parts. It's 9pm to 2am, and 21+.
And also tomorrow night, Fifty24SF hosts the opening of "Inkflow," a solo show by Japanese artist Usugrow. We told you all about this last week, so you already know what's up. 7pm until closing at 218 Fillmore.
Now for some other odds and ends...
A reader sent us these photos of his missing parakeet, which flew away on September 12th near 26th and Church and was apparently sighted recently in the Lower Haight:

"Goes by the name Sauron, but I'm not sure she's smart enough to actually know her real name," our tipster writes. "She's a small bird, about 7 inches beak to tail. She loves rosemary flowers, so if you have flowering rosemary around, look there first!" If you spot Sauron, please contact sauronstormborn [at] gmail {{dot}} com.
In a sign that the announced merger of the two Santa Clara Markets is growing nearer, the original location at 799 Haight (at Scott) is now available. Though a listing hasn't appeared online yet, the building now sports a Pacific Union realty sign:

So if you've ever wanted to own a corner store, or have another use in mind for this space, here's your chance.
Finally, you may have heard this bizarre tale of a recent Uber ride gone horribly wrong, but in case you haven't yet:
A Lower Haight resident had gotten off his bartending shift in SoMa on Sept. 23rd, and after some post-work drinks with friends, hopped in an Uber to head home. It should have been a simple ride, but for some reason the driver decided to take the freeway. From SoMa to the Lower Haight. The passengers got upset (understandably), which apparently led to some heated words. Finally, somewhere past Bernal the driver hit the bartender in the eye with a hammer. The victim may lose vision in his eye, and he'll definitely need reconstructive surgery. The driver plead not guilty to multiple charges.
So, that's a strange and gruesome story to kick off your weekend. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine, folks.
