It's the middle of a rainy long Thanksgiving weekend, and we've got some Hayes Valley news leftovers for your overstuffed fridge.

First off, Mission Local has a closer look at Malcolm Armstrong, the 20-year-old victim of the murder near Haight and Buchanan that took place on Nov. 13th. An avid skater, the New York native is remembered in a video created by his friends. 24-year-old Johnathan Dean was arrested as a suspect in the homicide the following day. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

On the arts beat, the new Hayes Valley artists pop-up has officially debuted in a Proxy shipping container (pictured above). Helmed by Hayes Valley Art Coalition co-founder and local fixture Madeline Behrens-Brigham, the pop-up runs through December 24th, with hours from 9am to 7pm. Expect plenty of art, tote bags, postcards and more.

In retail news, today is of course Small Business Saturday in the 'hood, with local merchants hoping they you'll empty your holiday piggy bank locally instead of shopping at mega-stores and online. That means that there'll be plenty of sales and promotions this weekend, including a fun corset promotion over at Dark Garden and much more, so head down to Hayes Street to fulfill your consumer fantasies, which may or may not include a $195 Swarovski manicure

On the real estate front, a mixed-use development plan at Franklin and Page, originally approved in 2010, has been revived with a new angle: 35 condos over 2,700 square feet of ground floor retail, but zero parking spots. We'll keep an eye on this one and let you know when and if plans move forward.

On that note: remember when we told you that studios in the new Avalon apartment building on Oak Street were going for an eye-burning $3,135? Well grab the eye drops, because prices have gone up, with studios now starting at $3,210, 1-bedrooms from $3,595, and 2-bedrooms from $4,345 to $6,550. Yowza.

Anything we missed in leftover news or events in the week ahead? Let us know in the comments.
