Beware This Sinkhole At Belvedere And Grattan
By Amy Stephenson - Published on December 08, 2014.
Among other rain-related mini-catastrophes in the neighborhood last week, reader Robert H. reported that a large sinkhole opened up at the corner of Belvedere and Grattan late last week.

The hole is about 15 feet long, 3 feet wide, and, if you dare gaze into the abyss, about 10 feet deep:

We reached out to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to find out more about the hole and when it might be fixed.
"It seems that the main sewer has collapsed," Jean Walsh of the SFPUC told us, stating that an emergency fix will be in the works over the next few days. There should be no interruption to sewer service for local residents, but she said that residents who may be affected will receive a paper notification at their address.
While the sewer is being repaired and the hole patched, tread lightly while traversing the Belvedere and Grattan intersection. We'll update this story when we get word that the problem has been taken care of.
And with more rain in the forecast for this week, be sure to keep an eye out for any further mayhem in the neighborhood and keep us posted at tips [at] hoodline [dot] com.
