In a scary local crime incident, two men broke into a home on the 300 block of Buchanan yesterday morning, punched and tied up a resident, and then robbed her.

According to the SFPD, the invasion occurred around 5:30am on Sunday. Two suspects entered the home on the block of Buchanan between Haight and Page, waking a 55-year-old female resident. One of the two men punched her in the stomach and in the head, while the other tied her up and taped her mouth. The suspects, whose ages are unknown, then rummaged through her apartment. They took an unspecified amount of money which they found in her closet, and then fled the scene.

SFPD spokesperson Grace Gatpandan tells us that some time thereafter, the victim's son called 9-1-1, reporting a medical emergency at the address. An SFFD crew arrived at the scene and found the woman, still bound. The suspects were already gone; no arrests have been made as of this morning.

It's unknown whether the door by which the suspects entered the house had been locked, but to help prevent home invasions, Officer Gatpandan advises residents to make sure that all windows and doors to their homes remain locked, particularly at night.

She also encourages people to call 9-1-1 if they witness any suspicious activity at their neighbors' property, and to not assume that neighbors are aware of such activity themselves.
