Saturday:

Friends of Kezar Triangle Clean-up Day starts at 9am and continues until 1pm on Saturday. Volunteers will help beautify the recently restored park, a 2.8-acre green space created by the nexus of Frederick St. and Kezar Drive.

At 9:30am in the Park Police Station Community Room, the 30th Street Senior Center and the city’s Department of Aging & Adult Services are kicking off a 6-week workshop, "Take Control of Your Health!" Attendees will learn about a host of health-related topics, including "self-care for better sleep, improved nutrition and physical activity, stress management, working more effectively with health providers, feeling better and reducing health care costs." RSVP online, or email [email protected] to reserve your spot. (Park Station Community room, 1899 Waller St.)

Spring's right around the corner, so this is a good time to raise your backyard composting game. The Ecology Center invites interested parties to visit the Garden for the Environment at 10am to learn the ins and outs of turning your organic trash into "Black Gold."

Organizers urge you to "learn what you can do to improve your garden and prevent organic waste from ending up in the landfill! Rot On! " (Garden for the Environment, 1590 7th Ave, free admission.)

Sunday:

Friends of Strawberry Hill, "a volunteer group working to improve and enhance habitat for butterflies in Golden Gate Park," will host a table at the Inner Sunset Farmer’s Market from 10am to noon on Sunday.

Group members will display drawings of the proposed renovations to Strawberry Hill and will answer questions. This year, these butterfly boosters plan to apply for a grant from the city Community Opportunities Fund, so they're working to build awareness and garner support from Sunset and Richmond residents.

At 2pm, the Sunset Heights Association of Responsible People is hosting a concert by violinist Jonathan Chu. Jaymes Kirksey of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music will accompany Chu, a fifteen-year-old who “plays with the tone and technique of an accomplished musician,” according to the event description. The concert is free, but you must RSVP to attend using SHARP’s contact form. (SHARP Community Room, 1736 9th Ave., 2-3pm.)
