If you're interested in the future of Haight and Fillmore, get thee down to Bean There tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
That's where the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighbors Association (LoHaMNA), in partnership with WalkStopSF, will be hosting another community meeting to discuss planned upgrades for the intersection. (The first meeting was in April.)
Thanks to a $33,000 grant from the Mayor's office, the southeast corner of the intersection outside CVS could soon see several design enhancements. Those include:
- a sidewalk bulbout
- commemorative plaques
- a WalkStop, which consists of wayfinder signs and historical elements to help passersby learn about the Lower Haight and navigate to nearby destinations
The WalkStop will also incorporate oral and written histories about the neighborhood from residents, so you're encouraged to contribute your own.
The project is currently in the community outreach phase, with permitting and construction slated to begin later this summer. The tentative timeline aims for a completion date of next spring.
Tuesday night's meeting will take place at Bean There (201 Steiner St. at Waller) at 7pm.
