We have items for your weekend calendar, news about the upcoming Tenderloin Sunday Streets, updates on some local housing development proposals, and a handful of recent crimes in today's tidbits.
Let's start with events.
Local artist John Wentz is opening a solo show tonight at Hashimoto Contemporary (804 Sutter St.). Titled "Imprints", the exhibition "perforates the structure of the classic portrait by exploring a visual breakdown of information." Stop by from 6-10pm to meet Wentz and view more than a dozen oil paintings, including a life-sized portrait and series of smaller, more affordable pieces.
There's still time to sip a cocktail for a good cause: raising money for Tenderloin-based nonprofit Project Open Hand.
Looking further ahead, Sunday Streets in the Tenderloin is July 12th. If you're interested in participating with a booth or live entertainment, it's time to get your application in.

In development news, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to table the Turk-Leavenworth group housing development proposal for one more month after many residents and building owners expressed concerns about potential impacts on neighbor's quality of life. Read our full hearing recap here and mark your calendar: the project goes before the Commission again July 9th.
In the meantime, the Planning Commission is hearing the 101 Hyde development proposal at 12pm this Thursday, June 11th. If approved, the project would replace the existing post office with an 8-story mixed-use building featuring 85 residential units, including 10 on-site inclusionary units, three retail spaces and 15 off-street parking spaces. You can view the hearing agenda here and download the Planning Department's full assessment, which recommends approving the project.

Finally, here's an overview of this week's crime reports:
We noted earlier this week that a man was stabbed to death early Saturday morning on Fulton at Larkin. Police still have not identified a suspect in this case.
At 10pm June 3rd, a 40-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest with an unknown sharp object. The victim was walking on Leavenworth at Eddy when a woman bumped into her. An argument ensued, and the suspect stabbed the victim before fleeing. The suspect was not arrested.
A man was shot in the thigh at 5am June 4th on the 100 block of Turk Street and transported to San Francisco General Hospital. The victim would not share any information with police, but police say a spent round was collected at the scene and a live round was found in the victim's home. No arrest was made.
Two women, ages 32 and 19, were mugged by a woman at 5:45pm June 4th on the first block of Powell. The suspect yelled at one of the victims and punched her in the face. When other women tried to intervene, the suspect grabbed the victim's money and ran south toward Market Street. The suspect wasn't apprehended.
At 11pm that night on the first block of Turk Street a woman threw a flammable substance into a light well. A mattress at the bottom of the light well caught fire. There were no injuries or arrests, but the incident was captured by a security camera.
