This Week On Divis: Flaming Lips Documentary, Colorado Crafters, Mezcal And MoreMoss Terrariums, Photo: Workshop

Divisadero is playing host to a number of artists, filmmakers and crafters this week, with events at The Independent, Perish Trust, Workshop, Rare Device and La Urbana. Here are some of the happenings taking place this week:

  • Tonight, movie nights are returning to The Independent, with a screening of 2009's The Fearless Freaks: The Wondrously Improbable Story of the Flaming Lips. Fans of the Lips can be assured that this documentary has everything, including early footage of the band's first shows and the accompanying "tragic hairstyles." In a review, Rolling Stone called it "the most intimate portrait of a band you'll likely see. As heart-warming and -breaking as the band's music itself." Doors are at 7:30pm, and the movie starts at 8pm. It's free if you RSVP here, and filmmakers Bradley Beesley and Ben Steinbauer will be in attendance for a post-screening Q&A.

  • The Perish Trust is hosting a "Mile-High" event this Thursday and Friday, featuring the work of Colorado's "finest makers and friends." In attendance will be Dram Apothecary (bitters and syrups for mixed drinks),  Mountains vs Plains (a very wry greeting card company), Young in the Mountains (jewelry and ceramics), Winter Session (waxed leather goods) and Matthew Jorgensen (ceramics).  Swing by from 5-9pm on Thursday, June 11th, and 11-3pm on Friday, June 12th, to meet the makers and learn more about their crafts.

  • If you're checking out the Perish Trust event on Thursday night, you might also want to drop in at Rare Device, where Minoux Jewelry will be showcasing its work in a trunk show from 6-9pm. Clearly Kombucha will be serving refreshments. More details can be found on the Facebook event

  • Thursday will also see Workshop host two of its most popular classes: Screen Printing For Newbies and Sewing 101: Machine Basics. If you want to get your hands dirty, try Succulent & Moss Glass Jar Terrariums on Saturday morning. Check out the craft studio's calendar for a full list of upcoming classes.

  • Yerba Buena Acupuncture is supporting the SF Marin Food Bank this month. Drop off non-perishable items at the clinic and you'll receive a $15 treatment (that's a $5 discount). Clean out your pantry and schedule an appointment here.

  • Finally, peeking ahead to next week, La Urbana will be hosting a Mezcal Collective Class on Monday, June 15th. Appetizers will be served, and representatives from La NiƱa del Mezcal will be on hand to pour samples. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here
