Here's our latest recap of some recent crimes and injuries in the Financial District, North Beach and adjoining neighborhoods, as reported by SFPD sources. Though not meant to be comprehensive, it should serve as a brief snapshot of recent activity to help locals stay informed.

A 29-year-old man was stabbed in the chest at 2am Aug. 8th at New Montgomery and Market streets in the FiDi. He was in an argument with another man, age 40–45, when the suspect stabbed him with a knife and fled the scene. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A  70-year-old man was injured at 11am Aug. 9th at 1000 Powell St. in Chinatown. He was walking out of the restroom at a restaurant when he was confronted by an 80-year-old man. The suspect accused the victim of following him and pushed him to the ground, then kneeled next to him and punched him in the face. The victim suffered a cut to his hand and bruising to his back and shoulder area, and complained of pain to his head and chin. The suspect then apologized and left his information with the owner of the restaurant. The victim's family took him to the hospital, and the restaurant owner contacted the victim and gave him the suspect's information. The victim contacted the police and an officer spoke with the suspect, who admitted to the assault.

The Chemistry Club advertising agency at 451 Pacific Ave. in Jackson Square was robbed during a "hot prowl" burglary while the owner was on site asleep sometime between 11pm–8:30am Aug. 9th–10th. The owner fell asleep at the business after locking up and didn't turn on the alarm. When workers arrived, they noticed the large bay window next to the front door was open and several items had been taken, including headsets, DVD drives and a backpack. There were pry marks on the front door.

A woman who left her ATM card in the machine got it back, along with the cash a robber tried to take. It happened at 12:42pm Aug. 10th in the 300 block of Market Street. She was at the ATM getting money and then walked to a coffee shop and forgot to take her card with her. When she returned, she noticed a man, age 50, with her card and currency. She  demanded her card and money, and the suspect gave her card back but pushed her in an attempted to flee. She screamed for help, and some passersby helped detain the suspect. An officer nearby arrived and took custody of the suspect.

A man was robbed at knifepoint after getting into a car with someone posing as a ride-sharing driver near Grant Avenue and Green Street in North Beach at around 2–2:15am Aug. 12th. The man, 39, left the bar and was approached by a man, age 25–35, who told him a woman, age 20–25, in a white four-door hybrid sedan was a ride share driver and could give him a ride. The man got into the car, and the man who approached him—now seated in the front passenger seat—turned around, pointed a knife at his chest and demanded his cell phone and money. After driving around, the male suspect got into the rear seat and pushed the victim out of the stopped car. The suspects fled the scene in the vehicle.

At 4:15am on Aug. 13th in the unit block of Romolo Place in North Beach, a 32-year-old man was leaving a nightclub when when he was struck to the right side of his face with an unknown object. He suffered a cut to his face near the ear and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene.
