It's been a busy week on the Hayes Valley beat.

We went back in time to when Hayes Valley had a freeway running through it, and looked at what the neighborhood was like before the earthquake brought it down.

In collisions and calamities, we noted that a cyclist was hit by a car at Market & Octavia on Tuesday morning (the victim's injuries were not life-threatening, thankfully). And Wednesday morning saw a river of brown water flood the intersection of Gough & Page as construction crews hit a water line. Speaking of water, the newly sodded Patricia's Green is getting plenty of water (see photo above), with some readers already crying foul over water usage during the long-lasting drought.

This week, we also brought news of a "casual and affordable" restaurant coming to the 450 Hayes condo building once construction is complete. In other food news, Petit Crenn opened its doors in the former Bar Jules spot on Tuesday, with a $72 prix-fixe menu. Speaking of local food outlets, we received a tip that Gough Street's Gourmet & More may be closing its doors, but according to a sign on the storefront, it'll reopen on August 24th.

We brought word that menswear company Ernest Alexander will be moving in to the neighborhood this fall, and noted that former Zonal owner and Hayes Valley fixture Russell Pritchard has a GoFundMe to help relieve his business debt.

Looking ahead, it's meant to be a lovely in the city this weekend, with temperatures reaching upwards of 80 degrees. If you'll be sticking around the neighborhood here are just a few events to fill up your weekend calendar.
