It's been a relatively quiet week in the neighborhood, but rumblings of City Hall meetings, walking tours and new restaurants are happening behind the scenes. We'll get to that come Monday, but in the meantime, here's some of the past week's Hayes Valley news:
We met with Adam Hubbell of lunch pop-up Lunchpad, who told us that on any given day the popular spot sells 100 sandwiches. He loves the neighborhood, telling us that "Everyone pulls together here, and it's really cool."
In housing news, tenants from the Western Addition's Midtown Apartments (on Scott and Geary) rallied outside the SF Rent Board on Tuesday, protesting a rent hike that in some cases soared up to 300 percent.
A film crew could be seen set up around the neighborhood from 8am to 10pm on Thursday, with gear stacked up next to Rand + Statler, Live Fit and Momi Toby's. The crew was part of an AT&T commercial, "featuring the great architecture and ambiance Hayes Valley offers."
Finally, we took a look at the LGBT Center on Market Street, which has been around since 2002. The community center provides programming and services for the city's diverse LGBTQ community.
Looking ahead, here are a few events taking place in the neighborhood in the coming week.
