It's been another newsy few days in North Beach. The week kicked off with a debate between District 3 supervisor candidates Julie Christensen, Wilma Pang, and Aaron Peskin, the latter of whom was also celebrated at a book launch.
In other literary news, Telegraph Hill local Ernie Beyl has just released his first book, Sketches From a North Beach Journal; we sat down with him to learn more about it. Not everyone is feeling the literary love, though: the planned closure of Vallejo for Poets Plaza construction has ruffled some neighbors' feathers.
On the upside, those seeking a place to use the restroom without purchasing a pricey latte now have a new option, as the SF Fire Department has agreed to open fire-station restrooms to the public from 9am-6pm.
Now that you're caught up, here's all the intel on what's going down in and around the neighborhood this weekend.
