Verso, SoMa's Newest Nightclub, Hosts Soft Opening FridayPhotos: Verso/Facebook

Western SoMa has another attraction besides the Folsom Street Fair this weekend: the PlumpJack Group (Balboa Cafe, MatrixFillmore) is set to debut its new nightclub, Verso, this Friday night.

Verso's space, once a printing press, was last home to another nightclub, Sloane, which opened in 2009 and closed in 2014. The PlumpJack team took over Sloane's space last December, opening a cocktail bar, Forgery, in a portion of the space earlier this summer. While Forgery is open six days a week, 14,000-square-foot Verso will only be open to the public on Friday and Saturday nights, offering private events Sunday-Thursday.

Verso will feature exposed brick walls and concrete floors, juxtaposed with plush sofas and ottomans "reminiscent of British private clubs," the venue's press release states. Audio buffs should note that the venue is equipped with fifteen speakers and six subwoofers, for distortion-free sound quality. Just off the large dance floor is a 20-foot-long white Carrara marble bar, where premium cocktails will be served.

Verso also offers bottle service, with nine private tables. Five are located on the ground floor, with a reserved dancing area, and another four are housed on the mezzanine, with a bird's-eye view of the dance floor. Each table accommodates 20 guests.

Verso's soft opening, featuring DJ Enferno, will run from 9pm-2am this Friday. Tickets are $10-$20 on Eventbrite; bottle service can be booked through the club's website.
