It's just about time to start another weekend countdown. But first, here are the highlights from another busy week in the neighborhood:
Starting with development, San Francisco Tennis Club members are gearing up for another fight to keep their courts in place.
Rec & Parks and the Planning Commission approved a 9-story residential development at Sixth and Clara streets after considering how continued development in the area could negatively impact the neighborhood's few green spaces.

The Port of San Francisco also took some time to consider the future, with a public brainstorm on what's next for many of the city's derelict piers.
And the New York Times took a walk with Janet Delaney, whose photographs of people and places South of Market in the '60s and '70s were recently on view at the de Young, as she examined the changing neighborhood through her camera lens once again.
Lots of updates this week in the neighborhood dining scene as well.
We learned what's next for the former Zeke's space and peeked inside the eclectic, 15-year-old Brickhouse Cafe.

Also of note: Caputo opened its door on the Embarcadero; the Chronicle gave Black Hammer Brewery's "geeky beers" a rave review; and a couple of the neighborhood's upscale eateries — Benu and Saison — held onto all three of their Michelin Stars for another year, while Boulevard lost its one and only.
On the arts front, the SFMOMA announced that its massive redesign is just months away from completion.
Finally, there are quite a few crime and safety updates this week.
The SPFD held a town hall meeting to discuss the ongoing investigation into the officer-involved shooting that killed a 26-year-old resident at Eighth and Market last week. While few new details were released, community members had the opportunity to share their concerns with the chief.
A hit-and-run left one cyclist on the Embarcadero with minor injuries Monday — just one week after one cyclist was killed on the 500 block of Market and another suffered minor injuries at Embarcadero and Chestnut on the same day.

Addressing these incidents and regular questions from neighbors on pedestrian safety in the neighborhood, Southern Station Captain Jerome DeFilippo told attendees of his monthly community meeting last night that one pedestrian safety sting took place just a couple of weeks ago on the Embarcadero. During the three-hour operation, about 25 citations were issued to drivers who failed to yield to pedestrians and cyclists lawfully crossing the street. But the operation went both ways. Eight cyclists and 3-4 pedestrians were also cited for not yielding to vehicles with the right-of-way.
DeFilippo was also pleased to report that a couple of serial thieves have been nabbed. One is suspected of at least 21 separate auto burglaries in the district, and the other is suspected of 17 different residential burglaries, primarily in SoMa.
On that note, let's move on to the weekend at hand:
