
While we don't report every police report filed, we do our best to keep you informed of major crimes and safety concerns in the neighborhood. Here's a selection of crimes reported around the Tenderloin over the past two weeks. All details are pulled from the SFPD's daily crime recaps, unless otherwise noted.
Stabbing
A woman, 31, was arrested at about 11:45pm Nov. 1st, on suspicion of stabbing a 28-year-old woman at Turk and Leavenworth streets. When officers drove by the corner, where 15 people were standing, everyone fled. The victim yelled that she had been stabbed and pointed to the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.
Robberies
At about 10pm Nov. 6th, a man was knocked unconscious by 12 suspects and robbed at Sixth and Mission streets. The victim, 22, saw a fight and attempted to intervene. One suspect told him to mind his own business and punched him in the face. Eleven other suspects then jumped in, hitting and kicking the victim. Responding units arrested two suspects, a 27-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, while the others fled.
A man, 41, was attacked and robbed of his tablet at about 10:40pm on Nov. 7th. The victim was walking on the 1200 block of Market Street when he was approached from behind. The suspect pushed him and snatched the tablet device before punching him in the face. The suspect fled, and was not apprehended.
A transgender woman with a hatchet stole a purse from Bloomingdales in the Westfield Mall at about 1:10pm Nov. 2nd. The suspect entered the department store and took a handbag. When confronted by security, she took the hatchet out of a bag and threatened the security guard before fleeing on a bike. She was not arrested.
Two people walking at Seventh and Market streets were robbed by four men at 1:20am on Oct. 31st. The suspects approached the victims, with one telling them he had a gun. The victims gave them their mobile devices, money and jewelry, and were ordered to walk away. No arrests were made.
At 5am on Halloween morning, four women pepper sprayed an 18-year-old woman on Market Street (cross-street unknown) and fled with her purse. None of the suspects were arrested.
A woman was robbed and man attacked at about 11:45am Oct. 29th on the unit block of Turk Street. The couple was standing outside when the suspect grabbed the woman's phone while running past. Her partner, 46, chased the suspect until he stopped, punched the victim in the face and continued to flee.
Hot Prowl Burglary
A residence on the 800 block of O’Farrell Street was robbed at about 4am Nov. 4th while the resident, 44, was sleeping. The suspect climbed through an open window, took a cellphone and tablet, and fled through the front door. The victim did not see the suspect and no arrest was made.
Arson
At about 2am on Nov. 5th, a woman believed to be about 24 years old set a pair of pants on fire and threw them into a shop on the 300 block of Golden Gate. According to CBS, the woman had entered the shop earlier that night and ordered food, but refused to pay and left. She later returned and threw the fiery pants on the shop floor. She has not been arrested.
When security guards confronted a man attempting to shoplift at about 3:30pm on Nov. 1st in a store on the 1100 block of Market Street, the suspect lit a box on fire and threw it outside. The guards put out the minor fire as the suspect fled. He was not apprehended.
Hotel Homicide Trial Continues
Lisa Heng, the 31-year-old woman suspected of stabbing her 40-year-old boyfriend Matt Sheahan last summer in a Tenderloin hotel, took the stand last week. According to the Examiner, while the prosecution paints the defendant as a vengeful, jealous lover, Heng shared details about Sheahan's violent past and drug abuse, and her role as the "Bad Bitch" in their role-playing games.
