Almost a year after its Castro debut, Weaver's Coffee & Tea is making progress on its planned exterior patio, which will replace the existing planter on the eastern side of the coffee shop's space.
A notice displayed in the window over the last month outlines the plans for building over the planter, which include the construction of six-foot glass walls. The result will look similar to Café Flore, just across the intersection.
Weaver's general manager Tierney Heneage told us that the current planter area still needs some work, due to the presence of waste and needles. "It's really rough, and needs to be cleaned up."

Once the space is cleaned, the patio will be installed with "new plants, glass and bamboo walls, and outdoor seating," Heneage said. A door will lead from the eastern wall of the space to the outdoor patio.

San Francisco Planning Department communications manager Gina Simi provided us with the visual plans for the proposed space. It appears to have seating for roughly 19 people, with three tables and shelf tables lining the walls.

The new glass and metal walls will be designed to match the existing structure of the building, which is also occupied by Fitness SF.
Weaver's owner Michael Brown says the next step is for the plans to go through the approval process. "People seem very excited and positive about it," Brown told us. "If everything goes smoothly, we'll aim to open the space by the end of this year."
