With holiday shopping and holiday parties ramping up, it can be easy to miss some of the stories that we've covered, so here's a recap of what's been going on in the Castro this week. And in case you're planning to go out this weekend—even with the predicted storm coming through—we've rounded up a few events you may want to check out.
The latest crime roundup is full of interesting tidbits, from the arrest of the Walgreens window-smasher to felony charges for the alleged "drug house" owner. Let us know if you've noticed something recently that you'd like to get more information about.
The Castro has plenty of coffee shops these days, but there were some sliding doors in that department this week. Cafe Sophie confirmed that it wouldn't return, while a new shop, Wildcraft, just debuted with espresso, bone broth, and sheep's-milk ice cream.
The Board of Supervisors is set to vote on the controversial "bike yield law" at its next meeting on Dec. 15th. It'll have to secure eight votes in order to avoid a Mayor Lee veto.
We all know that there are many vacant storefronts in the Castro, many of them owned by Les Natali. But just this week, we found out one of the vacancies will be filled by the expansion of Mission sandwich shop Bite Me Sandwiches. And for everyone wondering about what Les Natali is up to, we've reached out to him multiple times. No luck so far, but we'll continue to attempt to set up an interview with him.
