
While most San Franciscans are thinking about how and where they'll ring in 2016 tomorrow, Goodwill doesn't want anyone to forget that Dec. 31st is the last opportunity to donate used goods in exchange for a 2015 tax receipt. And what better way to mark the occasion than by hosting a block party?
From 7am-5pm tomorrow, the Goodwill Truck Yard at 1500 Mission St. will be the scene of the annual Goodwill New Year's Eve Donate-a-thon. As neighbors line up to purge their unwanted possessions, they'll enjoy live entertainment from the San Francisco Boys Chorus and Father Brother Sun-Live Band, free snacks, and giveaways of movie tickets and passes to the San Francisco Zoo.
While there, keep an eye out for former Mayor Willie Brown. He's expected to make his annual contribution sometime tomorrow.
Finally, all 2015 donors can give themselves a pat on the back, as Goodwill has announced that 2015 donations have diverted 25 million pounds of material from local landfills and created 650 jobs for local residents, giving them a dignified path out of poverty.
