Stabbing

A fight at Ninth and Mission streets on Dec. 10th ended with a stabbing and eventual auto collision in the Tenderloin. At about 3pm, two suspects approached a 46-year-old man, asking for a ride. A fight ensued, and one suspect stabbed the man in the side with a sharp object. The victim then fled the scene in his car, and crashed into a pole at Larkin and Market streets. The victim was transferred to the hospital, and neither suspect was apprehended.

Also at Ninth and Mission, a 58-year-old woman was stabbed at 5:30pm Dec. 6th. The victim was sitting in her wheelchair when the suspect approached and cut her neck multiple times with a kitchen knife. A witness then followed the suspect, a 25-year-old man, and flagged down police, who took him into custody.

Supervisors Likely To Reject New SoMa Jail Today

This afternoon, the Board of Supervisors will review and cast a final vote on the city's proposal to construct a $380 million jail in SoMa to replace the seismically unsound one in the Hall of Justice.

The Examiner reports that six supervisors—John Avalos, Eric Mar, Jane Kim, David Campos, London Breed and Malia Cohen—have already announced their opposition to the proposal, meaning it will likely fail and an alternative plan will need to be devised for the seismically unsound facility. It may include new facilities for the District Attorney and other offices, which have struggled with rats, roaches, sewage, and uneven power in the building.
