If you're a fan of browsing the varying options at the Castro Farmers Market, put on by Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association (PCFMA) every Wednesday afternoon, you've got one more day to enjoy produce, flowers, cheese, breads, mushrooms and more before the market takes a winter break from December 17th to early March of next year. The market, running from 4pm-8pm each Wednesday, started this year on March 11th and wraps up December 16th.

We spoke with PCFMA Regional Manager Jorge Vega, who informed us that the break is due to low numbers over the winter months. "The customer counts drop quite a bit during the month of November," he explained. "Hopefully we can build toward having a stronger customer base so we are able to go year-round in the future."

While the Castro market is on break, Vega said you can still get your market fix at other farmers markets. "Customers can find similar products and producers at the Divisadero market located at Divisadero and Grove, or at the Inner Sunset market located at 9th Avenue and Irving." Additional year-round and seasonal markets can be found on the PCFMA map on its website.

You can also use the website to explore specific vendors such as Rodin Farms, From The Sea To You, and Far West Fungi to see which other markets they regularly attend.

In the meantime, check out a set of mini-interviews we did with some of the Castro farmers market vendors earlier this year.
