While politicians and nonprofits squabble over whether the city is doing enough to get homeless encampments into El Niño shelters, Michael Petrelis, a community activist and former write-in candidate for mayor, is doing his part by making sure homeless neighbors know where to go when they need to go—number one and two, that is.

As part of his crusade to make SF Fire Department restrooms more accessible to the general publicPetrelis and his supporters are gathering at 12pm today to visit the tent camps along and Division. They'll distribute information to the homeless about accessing the restrooms at nearby fire stations 24/7, and give small monetary donations to each person.

After the gathering, they'll stop by tonight's Fire Commission public hearing (at 5pm in City Hall room 400) to demand that signs identifying public restroom access be placed on firehouses citywide—a request that has been vetoed thus far by the city's fire chief.
