The first month of 2016 is already almost behind us, and that means Super Bowl 50 is nigh. We've already begun to see the effects of street closures, including the switch to shuttle buses on the F-line through February 12th. On the upside, underground Muni service has returned after 9:30pm.

Also back in business: Dolores Park, which celebrated its reopening last night with a glow-in-the-dark party.

District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener has been in the news this week, pushing for a prompt and “humane” solution to the tent camp situation along Division Street, and was also reelected this week to the San Francisco County Transportation Authority for his second term. At the SFCTA, he's promised to focus on improving transit, increasing traffic safety and securing local and regional revenues for transportation investment.

Over the weekend we learned that a Castro clothing institution, Citizen Clothing, will be closing soon to join forces with sister store BodySF. Everything is on sale, so stop in while the deals are hot.

San Francisco resident and local journalist Scott James recounted an incident of being harassed and threatened for being gay while riding on Muni.

Last week, we broke the news of Sharper Future, a sex offender rehab center, moving in to the former Out of the Closet space. It didn't take long for resistance from people in the neighborhood to develop. Supervisor Wiener has stepped in and called for Sharper Future to do more community outreach, including a meeting next month. Before that meeting, we interviewed the founders to answer some concerned neighbors' questions.

It seems that Strut, SF AIDS Foundation's new health center for gay and bisexual men, is struggling to meet demand for STI testing, despite having access to a larger new locations. They'll hopefully be able to ramp up service in the next few weeks.

Breaking news in the Castro Coffee ClusterNoe Valley's Bernie's Coffee is moving into the former Philz Coffee location on 18th Street.

New renderings for the planned mixed-use building on the site of the former Home restaurant were released this week, in advance of its hearing with the Planning Commission next week.

The San Francisco LGBT Community Center, now 14 years old, is set to get a $6.5 million facelift this year. The Bay Area Reporter has more details on the project's financing, which includes $650,000 from the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development with another $580,000 in assistance.

Before you head out this weekend, here's a few suggestions of things you may want to check out. Remember, this weekend is your last chance to stop in at neighborhood restaurants for SF Restaurant Week or local bars for SF Beer Week, as they both end Sunday.
