Dessert Venture 'Powder' To Take Over Former Viper Vapor On DivisPhoto: Nuala Sawyer/Hoodline

A new dessert shop is coming to Divisadero in 2016, adding one more business to the plethora of new restaurants scheduled to open up along the corridor this year. Powder, which will serve frozen desserts (such as shaved ice), should open its doors in Viper Vapor's old spot (260 Divisadero) this spring or summer.

Powder founder Mimi Hanley told us that she and her business partner have been refining their frozen dessert products for over a year, through focus groups and events.

"We wanted to be on Divis, because it's where we spend our time—great food, great shops," Handley told us. "We both live nearby and wanted our first store to be in our home neighborhood."

On the same side of the block, new restaurants Ijji Sushi and Indian Paradox are expected to open this year. Repose Coffee opened up next door to Viper Vapor in April of last year.

The space has yet to undergo any physical renovation, and it is currently undergoing a change of use from retail to limited restaurant use. Stay tuned as plans develop, but expect an additional dessert option along Divis by summer of this year.
