Mid-Market residents and office workers who've resolved to take better care of their teeth in 2016 will be pleased to hear that a dentist appears to be moving into the ground-floor space at WeWork Golden Gate (25 Taylor St.)
Studio Dental, a San Francisco-based mobile dental practice that travels to its customers, has filed a permit with the city to build a 1,815-square-foot clinic at the base of the seven-story co-working space, located just off Market Street and adjacent to the Golden Gate Theater. (Full disclosure: WeWork Golden Gate is also home to Hoodline's offices.)

Though Studio Dental hasn't responded to our inquiries about their plans for the space, here's a little background on the company, which launched in 2014. Founded by dentist Dr. Sara Creighton and former investment banker Lowell Caulder, Studio offers its dental services via a mobile trailer. The company travels to the offices of Google, Dropbox, and other companies, eliminating the need for their workforces to travel to the dreaded dentist.
Clients whose companies haven't partnered with Studio can still book appointments a few days each month at two locations in SoMa: Brannan Street between Seventh and Eighth, and 10th and Mission.
Studio's trailer is outfitted with a sleek and award-winning interior, including black leather exam chairs, wooden cabinets, skylights and ceiling televisions to keep patients entertained while they're on their backs with their jaws pried open.

While Creighton and Caulder told Fast Company that they aspire to become an Uber-like dental practice with multiple trailers, they didn't rule out the possibility of offering a brick-and-mortar clinic as well.
"The long-term vision is both mobile and traditional—a group practice like One Medical," Caulder told Fast Company. "We'll offer high-quality, tech-savvy dentists who work for a brand that stands for good dental care."
We'll share more details on the company's plans for 25 Taylor as they become available.
