Valentine's Day has passed, the Chinese New Year Parade is on its way, and aside from a little rain in the forecast, it's shaping up to be another nice weekend in the city.
Over Presidents' Day weekend, droves of sun-worshippers descended on Gay Beach and the rest of Dolores Park to soak up some rays on their day off. But since the renovated park's reopening, the cops seem to be keeping a tighter leash on having fun in the sun. As SFist reports, park rangers tackled and arrested a reveler for urinating on a tree on Presidents' Day. He was cited for "disorderly conduct, interference with Recreation and Park employees and intoxication by alcohol or drugs."

District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener, who's launching his Senate campaign office headquarters in the Castro on Saturday, wrote a letter to the SFMTA before yesterday's Board of Directors meeting, calling on them to not make changes to the commuter shuttle bus program. But after a unanimous vote, the SFMTA approved the changes, including the possibility of moving the shuttles to a transit hub.
This weekend promises plenty of events worth checking out. For starters, author Ramzi Fawaz and queer comics artist and scholar Justin Hall will be hosting a lively discussion of "queerness, comics and American culture" at the GLBT History Museum's The New Mutants: Superheroes and the Radical Imagination of American Comics.
As a response to the Marina assault of gay man Jeffery Lafayette, the Gay Mafia is encouraging everyone to join them in a "festive and fun" takeover of HiFI Lounge in the Marina. Expect a "big gaggle of glittery nonsense."
Spin on over to Lookout for the launch of their new Friday party, Shift. The party is designed to help AIDS/Lifecycle riders reach their fundraising goal for the SF AIDS Foundation's annual event.
Then head on down to SoMa for Heklina's 18th Annual Star Search Pageant at Oasis. You can always count on some amazing performances from some up-and-coming drag queens.
