Last night I had the opportunity to attend The Open House at Success Center San Francisco in the Western Addition. Established in 1983 by San Francisco Superior Court judges, it provided educational and employment opportunities to young people re-entering the community from juvenile detention. The career center has evolved since then, we had a chance to hear from two former job seekers who described the facility as not only a center to get job placement assistance, but also a "safety net". London Breed, who is now the District Supervisor, grew up in the neighborhood and has been a huge advocate for enhancement in the area. She understands the importance and potential of a strong resume as well as a great education. Liz Jackson-Simpson, a fixture there, is the life line of the center.
