The historic UC Theatre ready to reopen as The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall next ...

The UC theatre is a designated landmark in the City of Berkeley. It's is among the oldest and most historically significant theaters in Berkeley. They closed the doors in March 2001, when Landmark decided to do so rather than invest the hundreds of thousands needed for a required seismic upgrade. Now after 15 years The Berkeley Music Group, a non profit formed in 2012 to raise money to renovate the theater, along with a grant from Taube Philanthropies is ready to open doors. The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall will start by presenting approximately 75 to 100 shows a year, featuring local, national, and international touring artists. They will also have a Educational program that will offer a platform for learning the technical, creative, and business aspects of promoting concerts and cultural events through workshops and hands-on internship programs. David Meyeri of Berkeley Music Group stated ,"There are wonderful crews working feverishly to get things ready for the opening!"
