Now on view are large photographic images of Tokyo captured by Bay Area artist Ann Trinca. Trinca has traveled internationally specifically for photography, but her recent trip to Japan was a destination she had never imagined reaching. “In my mind, Trinca explains, Tokyo seemed inaccessible to me. I pictured a frenetic, decadent, neon movie-set. In reality, it's strangely comforting and transcendent." The title Wan Shotto is both a pun about photography as well as coffee. Translated as “One shot" meaning, you only get one chance to capture the perfect image in a fluid and fascinating city like Tokyo. Ann Trinca is a photographer and curator living in Oakland, Ca. her work explores themes of decay, spirituality, and human interaction. She has traveled to Indonesia, Argentina, Myanmar, Mexico, and Japan in search of moments that express her fascination with light, color, and the absurd.
