Election results are in for yesterday's primary, and the District 11 State Senate race between District 8 supervisor Scott Wiener and District 6 supervisor Jane Kim is looking close. In Castro news, after a little more than a year of experimenting with eliminating tipping, neighborhood restaurant Manos Nouveau has decided to return to tipping. Inside Scoop brings word from owner Manuel Montalban, who said that although he and his employees liked the tipless model, customers didn't like the higher prices. "Ironically, they’re spending the same or more" now that tipping is back. “It’s just perception. [Customers] say they don’t like to do math but they do."
Now let's take a look at few of highlights of events going on in the neighborhood this week.
On Friday, Jesse Hawthorne Ficks hosts his monthly Midnites For Maniacs at the Castro Theatre. This month's double feature includes two John Carpenter horror films.
On Saturday, head over to Dolores Park for a performance by San Francisco's own charitable cheerleaders, Cheer SF. Stick around at the park all day for "Pitch Perfect," the first Film Night In The Park of the season. Films begin at dusk.
On Tuesday, head over to the GLBT History Museum for 'Pedro Zamora, Sexuality & AIDS Education." Author Christopher Pullen will be discussing new work on the subject of AIDS activist and 1994 Real World San Francisco participant Pedro Zamora. Also included in this event is a rare screening of the documentary "A Tribute to Pedro Zamora."
