Festival season is upon us—and SoMa residents won't have to venture far to find one to their liking this weekend.
As part of the National Queer Arts Festival, which runs all month long, SOMArts is opening its doors to the Queer Comics Expo from 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. The annual fundraiser for the Cartoon Art Museum celebrates queer culture while promoting "diverse queer representation in comics, animation and other great ways to tell stories."
Stick around after the expo Saturday evening to enjoy Queeriosity, a free, annual spoken-word performance event showcasing "young people who are reshaping the conversations about sexuality, identity, and community."

As an alternative on Saturday evening, head over to the San Francisco Beer & Music Festival at the SoMa StrEat Food Park. For $35, you can taste more than 50 beers while enjoying music from live DJs and bands like Blink-180TRUE—and plenty of street food, of course. Keep one eye here for updates on the participating breweries.
Finally, come Sunday, Yerba Buena Gardens will be bursting with energy from the Native Contemporary Arts Festival. Expect a host of American Indian creatives with diverse talents to take the outdoor stage throughout the afternoon, including singers, a spoken-word poet, a magician, rappers and the Medicine Warrior Dance Troupe.
