If you love trying new foods, but can't always make it to the latest and greatest restaurants in town (or don't have the budget for them), Tacolicious has an answer for you: its guest chef series at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, starting this week and running through August 11th.

Tacolicious' Ferry Plaza stand is open 10am–2pm every Thursday, and this is the seventh year it has featured chefs from other top eateries cooking up special creations. Proceeds from the tacos benefit the Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA) and its educational programs. Over the years, they've raised $20,000, said Brie Mazurek, marketing and communications manager for CUESA.

We asked Mazurek for a sneak peek at some of this year's tacos, which are always inventive. She said Jason Fox of Commonwealth is planning an octopus and blood pudding taco with preserved lemon and cilantro; Ryan Farr of 4505 Meats will prepare one with smoked beef brisket, salsa verde, farmers market escabeche, Oaxaca cheese, and crunchy cracklins; and Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski of State Bird Provisions will dish up a "quail fried" chicken taco with pumpkin seed-jalapeño crema and fresh herbs.

Here's this year's schedule:

If you go at least four times and get a card stamped, you can enter to win the grand prize of a market gift basket, worth $300. But even if you get one stamp, you can still enter to win prizes, including cash to spend at the market a Tacolicious cookbook, tickets to a farm tour and other goodies.
