2 Suspects Arrested In $500K-Plus Union Square Jewelry Store HeistImage: Courtesy of SFPD

Last Thursday's major jewelry store heist in Union Square made headlines, and now, two suspects in the case have been arrested. San Francisco residents Andreaus Trevell Garrett, 24, and Carlnell McKinley Pitts, 27, are being charged with second-degree burglary, grand theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy; Garrett is also being charged with carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm.

SFPD says the value of the stolen jewelry was approximately $500K, while Grace Jewelers' owner, Peng "Paul" Zhou, told us last week that it was worth more like $2 to $4 million.

Security footage provided by SFPD shows one suspect breaking into Grace Jewelers (121 O'Farrell St.) around 3:45am, where he smashed open glass cases in the store and placed the contents into a duffle bag. Both suspects were subsequently seen with the duffle bag on security footage at a nearby parking garage.

Zhou offered a $25,000 reward for information from the public leading to the suspects' arrest, but they were actually caught by two patrol officers who recognized them from the security footage. Officers were able to recover some of the stolen property during the arrest.
