Since the Castro's last Crime & Safety Roundup, the neighborhood has seen some new incidents, as well as efforts to address quality-of-life and street safety concerns. Read on for the latest (all reports below come via the SFPD, unless otherwise noted).

16th & Market Stabbing

On June 21st, we reported on a stabbing that took place on 16th Street near Market. The SFPD received a call around 8am, and officers arrived at the scene to find a man, 25-30, bleeding from a stab wound to his forehead. He was transported to the hospital and was uncooperative with police requests for further information. No arrest has been made.

Verizon Store Sees 3rd Break-In This Year

On June 22nd, the Verizon Store at Sanchez and Market was broken into. The suspect(s) broke the front windows and stole iPhones and iPads. This break-in is the third time the store has been broken into since January.

19th & Castro Robbery

A man, 32, was walking home near 19th and Castro on June 24th at 10:45pm when he was approached by a man in his 20s, who demanded his phone. When the older man refused, the younger suspect pushed him to the ground and stole his phone and ID before fleeing on foot. No arrest was made.

Fix-It Team SF Walk

In mid-June, we introduced readers to the city's new Fix-It Team SF, which was set up to address quality-of-life issues. After a community workshop where locals and officials discussed concerns and action items, a planned walk took place on June 30th. The goal of the walk was to build off of the feedback from the workshop, 311 requests, and a steady flow of community input, while laying out plans for July, when the Team's on-the-ground response will begin. Stay tuned for updates on their efforts, ongoing concerns from locals and community groups, and other plans to address neighborhood concerns.

Knife-Wielding Robber

On July 1st at 7:55am near 17th and Noe, a man, 40-50, came up behind another man, 45, and punched him while wielding a knife. The attacker took the victim's bottles of prescription medication, and left. The victim suffered from scratches, but no stab wounds, and no arrest was made.

Campaign To Fill In Muni Tracks

Some readers and pedestrians have noticed emails and posted signs on street poles about concerns over the Muni tracks leading east on 17th Street away from Noe. The messages come from Off Track San Francisco, a campaign to fill in the tracks, which advocates that the tracks, currently used as the F-Market exit route, be removed and filled in. The site also lists incidents along the tracks, and ideas for alternate exit routes, as well as responses from city officials.
