After two busy weekends of Pride and the Fourth of July, this weekend should allow you to relax a little bit more. But we've got a few events that you might want to check out if you're looking for something to do.
Tomorrow, head over to the GLBT History Museum for Philadelphia Freedom: Queer Responses to the Bicentennial. Historian and author Marc Stein "reveals the cultural and political significance of a nearly forgotten moment of the 1970s, when LGBTQ people claimed a place in a national spectacle."
On Friday, join Strut as they open their new exhibit, Re-Mastered. Artist Ken Ireland manipulates digital images that transport today's adult industry into a fabricated historical context, "changing the way we see our sexuality by putting it in the context of the world the masters created."
Peaches Christ is back at the Castro Theatre for the premiere of SHE-Devil starring Sharon Needles. This drag pre-show parodies the cult-classic film She-Devil, starring Meryl Streep and Roseanne Barr. A screening of the film follows the live show.
Finally, on Sunday, stop by Beaux for Big Top Sundays Starring Naomi Smalls. Smalls, who made the top three in season eight of RuPaul's Drag Race, will perform alongside a cast of San Francisco Drag Queens at this weekly party, serving "legs for days."
Here's the full rundown of this week's events. Check out many more events from around the city at hoodline.com/events—and to see your event featured in an upcoming events roundup, submit it here.
