Not that this should be surprising, but it'll be another great weekend around North Beach.
On Thursday night, the Exploratorium will host an After Dark Thursday starring its current exhibit, the kinetic art sculpture "strandbeests." Made from 3-D printed plastic, paper, and metal, these walking machines are quite the sight, and you're invited to bring ones you've made on your own too. Tickets are $15.
Stand-up comedian, actor and television host Louie Anderson is swinging through Cobbs Comedy Club (915 Columbus Ave.) this weekend, in part to help promote his FX show Baskets, in which he portrays Zach Galifianakis' mother. You must be 18 years old or older to attend the show, and tickets are $25.
Finally, The Beat Museum (540 Broadway) will host an event to celebrate the 100th birthday of Beat poet Harold Norse. Multimedia performance artist Jason Jenn will perform Norse's work, and poets Adrian Brooks and Jim Nawrocki will also be on hand. Tickets are free.
In local news, Roka Akor (801 Montgomery St.) is offering a limited-seating cocktail omakase in its downstairs lounge, starting Thursday night, while the Circus Bella troupe will pay Joe DiMaggio Playground a visit on Saturday at 2pm. In case you have $7.5 million burning a hole in your pocket, the Chronicle highlights your perfect North Beach pad, and Game of Thrones fans will be happy to know that if the show was shot in San Francisco, North Beach would be Winterfell.
