The artist formerly known as La Boulange, La Boulangerie de San Francisco, is plotting its sixth location in San Francisco. As Inside Scoop reports, the new outpost is set to go in at 222 Sutter St. (at Kearny), and should debut in October. It'll have the usual lineup of sandwiches, pastries, and salads, along with mobile ordering for the busy lunchtime crowd.
Like all of La Boulangerie's other locations, 222 Sutter was once a La Boulange. After Starbucks shuttered the homegrown bakery-cafe chain in 2015, founder Pascal Rigo was able to buy back the Pine Street, Union Street, Cole Valley, Hayes Valley, and Noe Valley locations. Many of the other ex-La Boulanges, including West Portal, the Inner Sunset, and the Metreon, have since been transformed into outposts of L.A.-based fast-casual chain Lemonade.
The Sutter location sat on the market for nearly a year before Rigo was able to snap it back up. La Boulange's other FiDi location (465 California St.) remains vacant, and is currently available for lease.
Rigo told Inside Scoop that a seventh La Boulangerie de San Francisco is on the way, but declined to share the location. Know where it's going in? Send us a tip.
