Summer may have officially come to a close after Labor Day weekend—but don't tell that to any San Franciscan. As we know, that means the weather is only going to get better. Look for clear skies and warmer temperatures starting today, as our Indian summer begins.

If you're looking for a few events to check out in the warmer weather, here's what's going on in the Castro this week.

Tomorrow, head on over to City View at Metreon for GLAAD's annual San Francisco Gala. This year's event is hosted by comedian Aisha Tyler, and honors Salesforce CEO and chairman Marc Benioff, along with actor and New York Times bestselling author Hannah Hart.

Any Star Trek fanatics out there should stop by the Roxie Theatre on Friday night to catch For the Love of Spock, a new documentary film that recounts the life of the late Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock for nearly 50 years.

On Saturday night, the 19th annual California Independent Film Festival takes over the Castro Theatre for one day only. The packed schedule culminates in the San Francisco premiere of James Franco's new film King Cobra, which tells the story of gay porn star Sean Paul Lockhart (a.k.a. Brent Corrigan), from his rise to fame to his falling-out with the producer that made him famous.

It's been nearly two months since Pokémon Go was at peak popularity, but if you're still trying to catch 'em all, then stop on by The Edge for Poke'Pup. The beer bust, hosted by kinky lifestyle group Wagz Pack's Service Pups, promises plenty of fun and games for all you Pokémon fans.

Finally, if you're concerned about the recent violence that's taken place in the neighborhood, including the attack on Badlands employee Tommy Castellani, then mark your calendar for Monday's Sacred Table at Cafe Flore: How Do We Stop The Violence. The discussion will center on maintaining the Castro as a haven for LGBT people, and Castro Community on Patrol's deputy chief will be in attendance.

Here's the full lineup of events around the Castro this week. Check out many more events from around the city at hoodline.com/events—and to see your event featured in an upcoming events roundup, submit it here.
