The craziness of Halloween may be behind us, but you can stay busy by studying up for November 8th with our Election Guide, perhaps while you finish off all that candy you collected. And once you've figured out your ballot, there's plenty to do in the Castro in the run-up to next Tuesday's big election night.
Tomorrow evening, take a break from election stress with some comedy at Cafe du Nord. The mix of "class and crass," brought to you by LaffGang comics Andrew Orolfo and David Naimyar, costs just $5 per person (21+ event).
On Friday, feed your art cravings with new works on display in the neighborhood. Start with a reception at Open Art Studios, where you can check out new pieces from Chris Cerrato and Lara Buelow. Then make your way to Strut for a celebration of the photography works of Fabian Echevarria.
Add some music to your weekend with a Saturday concert from the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony (BARS), with guest conductor Alasdair Neale and clarinetist Stephen Zielinski. They'll be performing works from Dove, Mozart, Copland, Barber, and Britten.
From there, it's all about the polls, with the Harvey Milk Club and League of Pissed Off Voters kicking things off with an Election Eve pub crawl on Monday. Start by meeting up at Twin Peaks Tavern before heading out to other Castro bars.
And on Tuesday, November 8th, you can celebrate your vote by watching live election coverage at the Roxie Theater, put on by KALW, or by partying with your preferred candidate or cause at one of their many events. (And of course, there's always wrapping yourself in a blanket and hoping for the best.)
Got a pre-election or Election Day event you're planning on attending this week? Tell us what you'll be doing in the comments, and we'll add it to our roundup of Election Night watch parties, coming later this week. And be sure to submit your events for the chance to be featured in an upcoming post.
Enjoy the week, and don't forget to vote!
