From repealing the death penalty to legalizing marijuana, Californians had a number of big decisions to make this election. As of 8:37am this morning, with 99.7 percent of precincts reporting, here's how Californians voted on statewide ballot measures.

Measures That Passed

Percentages indicate the percentage of voters voting yes.

Proposition 51: Authorizes $9 billion in general obligation bonds to construct and modernize K-12 and community college facilities. (54 percent)

Proposition 52: Indefinitely extends a fee on hospitals to fund Medi-Cal health care services, care for uninsured patients and children’s health coverage. (69.6 percent)

Proposition 54: Prohibits the state legislature from passing any bill that has not been published on the internet for 72 hours before the vote. (64.3 percent)

Proposition 55: Continues the temporary personal income tax on earnings over $250,000 for 12 years to generate revenue for K–12 schools, community colleges and healthcare. (62.1 percent)

Proposition 56: Raises the tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, by $2 per pack. (62.9 percent)

Proposition 57: Allows parole consideration for nonviolent felons, and authorizes sentence credits for rehabilitation, good behavior and education. (63.6 percent)

Proposition 58: Requires public schools to ensure students obtain English language proficiency, while allowing school districts to establish dual–language immersion programs for both native and non–native English speakers. (72.4 percent)

Proposition 59 Advises California's elected officials to use their constitutional authority to seek increased regulation of campaign spending and contributions. (52.3 percent)

Proposition 63 Establishes background checks and Department of Justice authorization to purchase ammunition, and prohibits possession of large–capacity ammunition magazines. (62.6 percent)

Proposition 64 Legalizes the use of marijuana by adults 21 or older. (56 percent)

Proposition 66 Changes the procedures for state court challenges to death sentences. (50.9 percent)

Proposition 67 Bans grocers and other stores from providing single-use plastic and paper bags, but allows the sale of recycled paper bags and reusable bags. (51.9 percent)

Measures That Failed

Percentages indicate the percentage of voters voting no.

Proposition 53: Requires statewide voter approval before any revenue bonds can be issued or sold by the state for certain projects if the bond amount exceeds $2 billion. (51.4 percent)

Proposition 60: Requires adult film performers to use condoms while filming scenes with sexual intercourse. (53.9 percent)

Proposition 61: Prohibits the state from buying prescription drugs from manufacturers at higher prices than the United States Department of Veterans Affairs pays. (53.8 percent)

Proposition 62: Repeals the death penalty and replaces it with life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. (53.9 percent)

Proposition 65: Prohibits grocers and retail stores from giving carryout bags for free and redirects money collected from the sale of carryout bags to environmental programs. (55.4 percent)
