The Castro officially has another place to grab a cup of coffee—and a glass of wine—with the debut of Sofia Café, which opened its doors to the neighborhood last week.

In September, we reported that owner Nelson Jameson and his wife wanted to fill the former Cafe Sophie space with everything that a quality coffee shop has to offer, and for the past week and a half, the café has been doing just that.

Beginning on Friday, the eatery will also start to offer a dinner menu, an employee told us. Jameson originally planned for dinner, as well as a selection of beer and wine, to be served Thursdays through Saturdays, but the café hasn't settled into that routine just yet.

According to the employee, people—normalized to the vacancy left behind when Café Sophie closed in 2015—are slowly beginning to realize that the café is open for business.

"We're here," he said.
