A major BART delay is in effect due to a power outage earlier this afternoon.
The outage, reported at 2:11pm, halted trains moving in both directions between 24th Street Mission and Daly City stations and is causing systemwide slowdowns.
The San Francisco Fire Department reportedly assisted BART police to evacuate passengers from the eight-car train that was stuck on the tracks without power in the Balboa Park area.

At 2:45 p.m., a BART spokesman said that passengers were switching to a train on a different track and that service would resume shortly. In the meantime, BART is advising travelers to seek alternate methods of transportation.

BART has said that normal service has been restored between 24th Street and Daly City Stations. This follows an earlier report that the eight-car train had restored power and had been moved to a station.
