At least five police cars were on scene at Duboce Avenue and Noe Street, just before the entrance to the Sunset Tunnel. Police officers were seen searching the train with flashlights.
SFPD spokesperson Robert Rueca confirmed that police received a call at around 8:45pm, regarding a person with a gun on a Muni coach.
"Officers who arrived on scene spoke to several witnesses, who identified a male who was inside the coach," he said. The officers were able to detain the male subject without further incident, but no gun was found.
Rueca adds that the detained male was not arrested, but transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.
Reached this morning, SFMTA spokesperson Paul Rose had no further comment.
