There's a new bar and Latin American spot in the neighborhood, offering Colombian specialties and more. Called Jirafa Restaurant & Bar, the fresh addition is located at 1800 W Irving Park Rd. (between Ravenswood Ave) in Lakeview.
Open since early June, the new spot features a variety of Latin American dishes, from arepas and empanadas to meat and fish platters, tripe soup, plantains and more. To drink, look out for Jirafa's party-ready beer towers, plus fresh juices, milkshakes and more. (See the full menu here.)
Jirafa Restaurant & Bar has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp.
Israel F., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 17th, said: "Amazing environment and food! The portions are decently large and well priced. The bandeja paisa is phenomenal and the beer tower was an original feature i haven't seen at a restaurant before."
Yelper Adam E. added: “We saw this new restaurant and immediately had to try it. The fun new vibe was so much better than the establishment that came before."
And Shelley G. said: "Wonderful service. They genuinely want to know what you think and how to improve. We had the $8 lunch special with beef, rice, salad, soup, and plantains and iced tea."
