Oakland Weekend: A Fourth To Be Reckoned WithPhoto: Jack London Square/Facebook

Fourth of July weekend is upon us, which means cookouts, fireworks—and trash auteur John Waters in a park with punk bands.

If you aren't able to make it to Burger Boogaloo, the annual music festival at Mosswood Park hosted by the famed author/director, several bars and clubs around the city will be hosting shows with visiting bands.

For those staying local this Fourth of July, Jack London Square is staging a waterfront party with live music and BBQ treats. There aren't any (official) fireworks shows in Oakland this year, though the Oakland Symphony will be performing at the fireworks show at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond.
