A new pasta-focused spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Daisies, the new addition is located at 2523 N Milwaukee Ave. (between Sacramento Ave) in Logan Square.

Open since early June, Daisies aims to showcase seasonal, local produce with an eclectic lineup of starters and pasta dishes. Here's how the business describes what it's up to:

Midwest inspired, hand made pasta focused restaurant utilizing sustainable produce sourced from Chef Joe Frillman's family farm run by his brother, Tim. Summer yields a far more fresh vegetable centric menu, while winter relies on a stored pantry of ferments, pickles, and preserves. A continental wine list from GM, Keith Whitten, rounds out the menu with eight states represented, and a cocktail program from Peter Gugni that focuses on shrubs, shims, and house made kombucha.

Look for starters like the onion dip with potato chips, burrata with pea salad, and carrot rillettes, while seasonally rotating pastas include tortellini with kale, lentils and pork sausage; agnolotti with beets, dill and smoked trout roe; and mushroom papardelle. For those looking for a meaty entree, there are currently two options to choose from: a sturgeon dish and a cornflake chicken with rhubarb compote. (See the full menu here.)

The newcomer has garnered solid reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.

Anita S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 10th, said: "Wow! This place is great. It's hard to explain the flavors in the dishes, each dish was different from the one before it."

Head on over to check it out and decide for yoursel: Daisies is open Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm to 11pm and and Sunday from 5pm to 10pm. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)
