If you've got Indian on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The newcomer to Little Italy/University Village, called Curry on Fire, is located at 1030 W Taylor St. (between Miller St & Carpenter St).
The original owners behind the former Rangoli and the Spice Room in Humboldt Park have done it again with their third Indian restaurant.
The small eatery, which specializes in North Indian cuisine, offers specialties like vindaloo chicken ($12), saag lamb ($13), vegetable samosa ($3.50), garlic naan ($2) and more on the menu. It also has Indian desserts and drinks, like the mango kulfi (homemade Indian ice cream), rose lassi, masala chai and more to complement your meal. (See the full menu here.)
Curry on Fire has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp.
Akshay P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 2nd, said: "The only bad thing about this restaurant is it's closed on Monday. I have ordered from this restaurant multiple times and never has the quality gone down even if there were multiple dishes in the order."
And Kevin C. said: "Amazing. By the original owners of our old favorite restaurant Rangoli in Humboldt Park, which has unfortunately declined in quality after being sold. It's a small place with only a couple tables, but comfortable and the employees are always friendly."
Listed at two dollar signs on Yelp, you can expect to spend $11-$30 per person on a visit to Curry on Fire.
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Curry on Fire is open Tuesday–Sunday from 10:30am-2:30pm and then re-opened from 5pm–10pm.
