Bonjour! As France celebrates its annual national holiday, Bastille Day, San Franciscans can join in the festivities as well.
Enjoy Bastille Day at Belden Place, the narrow alley in the Financial District that was San Francisco's original French quarter. Head over to the Bastille Day Bash at The Yard at Mission Rock, which features house-made crepes, beats in the outdoor lounge, and a chance to win a trip to Paris, one of San Francisco's sister cities.
Neighborhood restaurants are also getting into the spirit of revolution. Glen Park's Le P’tit Laurent serves up an à la carte menu with live jazz music. In Cole Valley, Zazie celebrates with a special menu that includes classic French dishes.
For those who prefer to eat less and learn more, award-winning writer Renate Stendhal and investigative journalist Anne-Christine d’Adesky will be reading at the Green Arcade and discussing LGBT Paris.
On Saturday, locals can head over to Justin Herman Plaza for the city's biggest bash, which features French music, cuisine and crafts.
