With a wide variety of veggie-based substitutes for meats like chicken, duck, lamb and beef, Thai Idea doesn't skimp on classic curries, noodle dishes, and signature appetizers like the "wing bomb" (deep fried veggie chicken and homemade sauce topped with crispy basil), Thai samosas with potatoes, shrimp rolls and more.

Khan Toke is known for its unique in-restaurant ambiance (and no-shoe policy), but in a boon for locals who'd prefer to go shoeless in the comfort of their home, delivery is available as well.

The decades-old spot features a wide array of Thai dishes, from classics to more upscale presentations; starters range from the deep-fried "prawn in a blanket" to crispy wings with lemongrass, while entrees run the gamut from basil noodles to pineapple fried rice, sea bass to grilled lamb.

Blink and you may miss this Mission favorite's Florida Street location, but it'll deliver to your doorstep if within range. Billing itself as "new generation" Thai, Farmhouse aims to turn out adventurous iterations of both traditional and non-traditional dishes, and garnered a Michelin Bib Gourmand nod in 2016.

It boasts a collection of soups, from chicken noodle to tom yum to slow-cooked beef noodle soup, as well as fresh takes on dishes like crab fried rice, grilled salmon and fried chicken—as well as curries served with Farmhouse's signature blue rice.

Tamarind Hall
1268 Grant Ave.

North Beach's former King of Thai space has seen a warm response since opening as Tamarind Hall in 2016, named after a combination of tamarind, a key ingredient Salisa used in many Thai dishes, and Tammany Hall, the New York political machine in the 1800s.

Its most popular dishes include the pumpkin-y "jack-o-lantern curry", medium-spicy "knockout" chicken wings, classic pad thai, and tom kha gai—but it has a large menu ranging from a roasted duck noodle bowl to a sizzling seafood plate, Laotian sausage to Thai salmon ceviche.
